  • Water acid-loving plants such as rhododendrons and azaleas with a mixture of vinegar and water every so often. Use a cup of white vinegar to a gallon of water.
  • When using lime in the garden wash your hands with vinegar to avoid rough and flaking skin.
  • Pour vinegar around the kid’s sandbox to keep away cats.
  • Kill weeds and grass by pouring undiluted vinegar on them.
  • Trash bags that won’t fit in the trash barrel can be rescued from animals by pouring some vinegar on them.
  • Pour vinegar around the swimming pool and patio furniture to keep away ants.
  • To preserve cut flowers add 2 tablespoons of vinegar and 1 teaspoon of sugar to a quart of water and place the flowers in the solution.
  • To get rid of the water line in a flower vase fill it with a one to one solution of vinegar and water.
  • To get rid of mineral crusts from glazed clay or plastic plant pots soak them in a one to one solution of vinegar and water for several hours.
