Bee Pollen

Bee pollen is the male seed of flowers and is collected by bees and formed into granules. It contains all the essential components of life and therefore is considered one of nature’s most nourishing foods. It contains almost all nutrients required by humans. As food for young bees it’s about 40% protein. Bee pollen has 5 to 7 times more protein than beef. About half of the protein is in the form of free amino acids making it highly assimilable.

Bee pollen is particularly beneficial in providing nutrition to athletes and persons recovering from an illness. It builds the immune system and has the ability to correct body chemistry. European doctors have found that people suffering from alcohol problems show a reduction in alcohol cravings when treated with bee pollen. Individuals being treated for drug addictions show little or no withdrawal when they’re treated with it. Bee pollen can throw off toxins and poisons from the body. It’s helpful in fighting allergies especially hay fever. Research has shown it increases physical and mental capabilities and counteracts the signs of aging.

Royal Jelly

Royal jelly, which has a complex chemical structure, is secreted from the salivary glands of worker bees. It serves as food for all young bee larvae and is the only food for larvae that will develop into queen bees. Royal jelly is a concentrated rich food, which contains lipids, proteins, glucides, hormones, enzymes, vitamins, minerals and specific factors that act as biocatalysts in cell regeneration in the human body.

Some of the elements found in royal jelly can act significantly with co-enzymes as catalysts or they can act synergistically. Royal jelly is rich in the following vitamins: B-1, B-2, B-6, C, E, niacin, pantothenic acid, biotin, inositol and folic acid. It contains seventeen times as much pantothenic acid as that which is found in dry pollen.

Royal Jelly side effects and precautions: A very small number of persons may have allergic reactions to royal jelly. Asthma, together with, in rare cases, anaphylaxis, has been reported in individuals following ingestion of royal jelly. Royal jelly may have blood thinning potential so those on blood thinners like warfarin should be cautious.

Propolis

Propolis is the substance with which bees coat the walls of their hive. Propolis is a resin-like material from the buds of poplar and cone-bearing trees. Rarely available in its pure form, it’s usually obtained from beehives and therefore contains bee products.

Propolis has a long history of medicinal use, which dates back to 350 B.C., around the time of Aristotle. Greeks used propolis for abscesses. Assyrians used it for healing wounds and tumors. Egyptians used it for mummification.

Propolis, because of its strong antibiotic properties, is used for infections caused by bacteria, including tuberculosis, by viruses such as cause the flu and the common cold, by fungi, and by single-celled organisms called protozoans. Propolis is also used for cancer of the nose and throat, boosting the immune system, and for treating gastrointestinal problems such as Helicobacter pylori infection, which causes peptic ulcer disease. Propolis is also used as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent.

Some people apply propolis directly to the skin for wound cleansing and genital herpes and use it as a mouth rinse for speeding up the healing process following oral surgery. It’s also used for the treatment of minor burns.
